We work so hard to please God and all our hard work is for naught when we aren’t giving Him what He truly wants. God is a communicator. He has spoken His words and had them written down so we can review and refer back to them at our leisure. As we learn His Word, He wants us to speak it back to Him. In teaching us to speak His word back to Him, He is teaching us to speak to Him directly. His ears are open – He’s ready to listen; He’s ready to answer. He’s ready to speak new words to us… special words.

Nearly everything I learned from my mother, I learned from watching her live; observing how she interacted with and treated others. Occasionally, I missed a lesson and took my cues from how people treated her – dismissively, disrespectfully or abusively. When I responded to them in kind, mom would rebuke me with a great deal of irritation….

I’m sure you’ve heard many variations of this theme [why do today what you can do tomorrow]. And to all of those excuses and the ones waiting to be spoken, I say – Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2). So… just do it!
